Making beautiful things gives me a ledge to stand on in a world that often feels groundless. Pema Chödrön, the esteemed Buddhist teacher who wrote When Things Fall Apart, speaks of groundlessness as the human condition that we must accept. I try, I know resisting pain leads to more suffering. However, beauty offers me a spot to stand and catch my breath.
